RE: Propane on or off?

I have an inverter so if I know that tonight I will have shore power I run my fridg on the batt. With the truck and solor panel I have enough batt power for the day. Also have 4 6 volt golf cart batt. I do not use propane and charge the batt on the parks dime. Chefd

RE: farmers market--score!

Rangerdave: Thanks I have a real hard time passing up a farmers market or a winery. P.S. I just noticed you are from Austin. We were in your fair city in March and did a market downtown. Great! We found a great bakery UPPER CRUST 45th St and Burnett. Chefd

RE: Cutting Boards

My thought is any board that is softer than the knife. No glass or hard plastic. Cleaning is easy. When finished wash with hot soap and water. If I have had raw meat on the board I then use a brush and bleach solution. Should be about 200ppm. Test strips from a resturant supply are about 3.00 for 50. This works in the resturant business and will pass health inspection. Good enough for my kitchen. Chefd

RE: Fiberglass wash and wax

I have been a big meguire's fan for years. HOWEVER: I found PROTECT-ALL this year and I find it easier and cheaper than meguire's. I think Wall-Mart is selling it, Chefd

RE: 5th Wheel Insurance

Rusty and Rough 2000: Correct the homeowners liab will or in my case covers me anyplace in the world. Also the Umbrella covers anyplace in the world. Person trips over your cord or hose: Homeowners covers. My dad always said "you are never too busy to watch where you are walking". Doesen't matter: people still trip and try to sue. If your agent does not know and the adjuster does not know I would shop. Chefd

RE: Tire Blow-out - Damage Claim

I spent 30 years in my own agency. Blown tire is a comp claim. The average damage in my agency to the trailer or blown tire in a dually is about $2000. A col claim is when your rig comes in contact with something or someone. Your fault or not. The ded will always apply. Chefd

RE: Another lesson learned

Be sure the holes of the cinder block are up and down. If you set the block on its side it has no strength. By placing the block correctly you will have to use some wood. Forget the block and use wood to start with. Chefd

RE: Mayonnaise Recipes?

Mrs. Mik: Mayo is an emulsion sauce, mixing together two or more ingredients that do not mix, so as Candice said add the oil VERY SLOWLY. Adding the oil to fast will break the sauce. I use a food processor rather than a mixer. Just a matter of choice. Chefd

Who knew? I spent a lot of money on Culinary School and they did not teach me that. Just goes to show you how valuable this forum is! Chefd

RE: Is our tow vehicle adequate?

I pulled a 35ft with a shortbed 2500 Dodge Cummins. I now pull with a 3500 Dodge Cummins. I did not exceed the gvw for the 2500 but the short box in a wind was white knuckle. I would never pull a trailer that big with less that a 1 ton dually. I would use a 20k hitch. Chefd

RE: blackwater tank

I have had this problem! 1. Run your flush system to about 1/2 full. Add water to the stool and use a plunger with the stool valve open. This should clear the first pipe. 2. Now open the drain valve and flush the tank with lots of water. 3. Close the drain valve and add water to the tank. Do this until water starts up into the stool. Open the drain valve. You are looking for a surge to help clear the clog. Repeat this several times. 4. If this fails you may have to call a repairman. Chefd

RE: 6v versus 12v batteries

I guess I am the odd man out. I have 4 six volt golfcart batteries. I just replaced them after 6 years. I also live in the desert. With a solar panel on the roof I can get 4 days w/o being conservative. With the inverter on I can run my fridge on the bat. while going down the road. Micro works when dry camping. Chefd

RE: fifth wheel plug in

My in bed plug is mounted just inside the tailgate flush with the bed. Does not get in the way of cargo and I can reach it (being short and fat) from the ground. Chefd
